OKFreewheel - Day 0 - Hollis to Border

Saturday June 6, 2015 – Hollis to Texas Border

So Ed Bussa drove down from Grand Rapids last night and we headed out to Hollis, OK about 8:30 this morning.

Hollis is in the far South West corner of Oklahoma.
Population 3000, according to the woman who served us homemade ice cream.

We got to Hollis around 11:30 and were lucky enough to get a good campsite out of the sun.

After getting organized and set up, we headed out for the border at 2:00 pm.

Here is the Route we did today.

25.6 miles. We actually crossed the border twice, once on the southern side across the Red River into Texas, where we were instantly attacked by Texas-sized horse flies.
The second time we crossed the Western border, also into Texas.

Today was challenging in that we were riding from 2-4 in the heat Ic the day, 92F.

But a good start, all in all.

Tomorrow is 70 miles, riding to Frederick.
